FRASER HEIGHTS RECREATIONAL CENTRE
This 16,000 square foot expansion to an existing recreation and civic centre in North Surrey doubles the size of the current facility and expands the visibility of athletics and recreation to the rapidly expanding Fraser Heights community. A large glazed fitness area on the second floor provides ‘eyes on the park’ to create a safe outdoor space for users of all ages.
Half of the addition is placed on top of the existing facility to minimize the overall the footprint of the finished building. The addition includes a state of the art 7 500 sq.ft “sprung floor” gymnasium with regulation sized basketball and volleyball courts, an outdoor patio, and an 8 000 sq.ft fitness and wellness space. The centre is fully accessible and shadows a LEED Gold standard. The new parking area and associated landscape fulfills the expanded parking requirement as well as provides flexible space for markets, fairs, and informal sports.
