KENSINGTON PRAIRIE
This project consists of seismically upgrading three existing school buildings and retrofitting them to suit the programming of a community centre.
Drawings were not available for each building and detailing was sparse, however, WHM completed intrusive investigations to determine the existing structure and connection details. The BC Bridging Guidelines was utilized for the upgrade of these buildings.
This project earned a number of awards including the Adaptive Re-use Award of Excellence from the City of Surrey in 2011, an Award for Outstanding Achievement from Heritage BC in 2012, and an Award of Excellence (Renovation Project) from the Fraser Valley Business Association.
