EAST SOOKE RESIDENCE 1
This wonderful home situated near Victoria, BC, is a testament to efficient and ambitious engineering. The soaring laminated veneer lumber beams and concrete slabs cantilevering over a rock ledge open the home to phenomenal cliff side views. The random angles shapes of the house allow internal spaces to fit the property’s topography while two inner courtyards were designed for privacy yet letting sunlight brighten up the home. The sea breeze off the Pacific Ocean and the extensive view through the large windows give a distinct sense of being one with the outdoors. This home won the 2018 Residential Wood Design Awards with Wood WORKS! BC, and received the Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia Award in Architecture – Medal with the Architectural Institute of British Columbia (AIBC).
