VIRTUOSO
As a part of Adera Properties Inc. development team, WHM helped design this 6 storey, mixed-use building located in UBC’s Wesbrook Place Neighbourhood, steps from Pacific Spirit Regional Park.
Mark Robertson, M.A.Sc., P.Eng., Struct.Eng., S.E. WHM’s wood structures expert reflects on the Virtuoso Project:
“The first of it’s kind, Virtuoso uses a hybrid structure of innovative flat plate CLT floor panel system on prefabricated stud walls. CLT is a clean simple floor system installed in large panels which accelerates on-site construction. Using CLT also helps eliminate half of the wall plates at each storey which reduces building shrinkage. Virtuoso is a leap forward in construction materials and methodology and showcases a quickly assembled, stronger and better performing building.”
